Technical consultation summary
3 species regularly caught by anglers with differing vulnerabilities to fishing. In Cornwall there is no evidence from fishing industry or anglers to suggest that there is concern for fishing effort being too high. There is concern for stocks as we have no data on this, however there is no reason to believe that mullet stocks are in trouble in our area. Ban on all gill netting in estuaries (Cornwall IFCA) brought in in 2017 has helped protect mullet. Minimum landing size in Cornwall for grey mullet species is 20cm. Thick lipped fishing vulnerability 63/100, thin lipped 42/100, golden 36/100.
