Landings of Shagreen rays appear to be declining and this species is data poor. It is slow growing and vulnerable to fishing pressure. Fish base vulnerability is 72/100 classed as ‘very high’. ICES are advising a precautionary approach. Landings should be no more than 134 tonnes in 2023/4. Classed as vulnerable by IUCN with populations decreasing (last assessed 2014).
