Great British Beach Clean 2026 - Pegwell Bay

This Great British Beach Clean event will take place on the sandy beach close to the white cliffs within the Sandwich & Pegwell Bay National Nature Reserve*. The event lasts for 2 hours and is open to all to join in.  Children have to be supervised by a responsible adult.  Litter sticks, hoops, and bags are provided.  If you need gloves, please bring your own garden gloves; and wear appropriate clothing for weather on the day (windproof/rainproof if windy &/or raining) & tough footwear for walking on the beach. Please also bring along your own water bottle, or refreshment, to quench your thirst! (Note:  the nearby picnic site 'cafe' & 'toilets' should be open - but are CLOSED during the winter months).  *Detailed access directions to the beach:  From Viking Ship picnic site   >> walk to the north-east corner of the picnic site (Ramsgate direction), then   >> along a footpath adjacent to a field to a road , then  >> turn right & walk down the (former hoverport access) road & at the bottom  >>  turn round to the left around the trees to the start of the sandy beach (above the saltmarsh/mudflats). The Thanet Coast Project https://www.thanetcoast.org.uk/ runs this event and the Kent Wildlife Trust and Bird Wise East Kent may be present too (so you can ask your questions about the bird life and wildlife of the National Nature Reserve).
