Rating summary

Striped red mullet in this region are not subject to overfishing and are not being overfished. Few appropriate management measures are in place. The main concern in this fishery is that catches have been consistently higher than scientific recommendations. Some stripped red mullet are caught by otter trawls. Otter trawlers interact with the seabed and can modify bottom topography and cause damage and removal of some biogenic features including vulnerable marine habitats and benthic communities.Rating last updated January 2026.
