Swordfish
Xiphias gladius
Overview
Swordfish sustainability varies. The Best Choices are Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certified options. Avoid all swordfish caught by gillnet, which can bycatch catch huge numbers of dolphins, sharks and turtles. Also Avoid swordfish caught by longline in the south-east Pacific, where there is bycatch of critically endangered leatherback turtles.
