Overview

Globally, over 150,000 tonnes of Seriola species are produced each year through aquaculture. Seriola, known as yellowtail, or kingfish, is used predominantly in sushi and is therefore something of a niche species. In 2019 the UK imported around 20 tonnes of it from the Netherlands, with this set to rise in 2020. Land based recirculating production systems that are ASC certified are the Best Choice.
