Rating summary

The population of albacore tuna in the south Pacific Ocean is at a healthy size. However, there are no catch limits and it is projected to decline if recent catch levels continue. Almost all catches are by longlining, which can have a bycatch of highly vulnerable and endangered species, including sharks, turtles, and seabirds.Rating last updated January 2026.
