Plaice
Pleuronectes platessa
Overview
Plaice sustainability varies depending on where and how it's caught. The Best Choice is caught in the North Sea, by all gear types. Avoid plaice caught in the Eastern English Channel and the Celtic Sea. Plaice is widely available in UK supermarkets as fresh or frozen fillets and prepared products. It is also commonly sold at fishmongers and served in seafood restaurants.
