Common whelk
Buccinum undatum
Also known as: Buckie
Overview
Whelk sustainability varies depending on where they are caught. Some whelks fished in UK inshore waters are OK but more protection is needed for all whelk populations. There are a number of sources on the Fish to Avoid list, so we recommend checking the product label for catch location.
