Overview
King and queen scallop sustainability varies a lot. The Best Choices are farmed. Wild-caught scallops harvested with pots or dredges may be rated OK or Needs Improvement, but certain dredge fisheries are Fish to Avoid. Always check the label for where your scallops are from and how they were caught or farmed. In the UK, king scallops are more often found at fishmongers and in restaurants than in supermarkets. Scallops sold in supermarkets are more likely to be imported and a different species.
